This is the first re-issue of Kevin Drumm's Second since its original appearance and out-of-print status in 1999. In a limited edition of 500 copies, perdition Plastics is delighted to make this work available once again. Drumm is well-known and respected as a composer and improvisational player. Second is indeed Drumm's second solo release being comprised of three compositions. By appearing, disappearing, and reappearing, subtle and dissonant sounds characterize an internal dialogue within an almost filmic scenario. Foreshadowing his later, dark, ambient drone work, Second utilizes a variety of sources including: guitar, organ, accordion, and analogue synth finalized to computer to create this unique document within his extensive output. Compositionally precise and intricate, minute details emerge and illustrate the scope of Drumm's range.' Upon first release:
Second was described by the Chicago Tribune December 1999 (Bill Meyer) as 'arranged scattered clicks, piercing sine waves, static discharges, and placid organ drones into lengthy collages that proceed with an obscure, but deeply compelling internal logic.
