** Hand numbered edition of 250. Silscreened see-trough cover ** Co-Existence is a piece composed by sound artist Shigeru Ishihara (Dj Scotch Egg/Scotch Rolex) during his artistic residency at MAO, Turin's Museum of Asian Art, inspired by the temporary exhibition Buddha10  - A Fragmented Display on Buddhist Visual Evolution curated by Davide Quadrio and Laura Vigo held at that time at the museum. The artist acoustically explored the natural reverberations that characterize the museum and an ancient ice house belowground on the adjacent square and reworked a series of sound sources recorded in Japan on the occasion of Buddhist and Shinto folk festivals, creating a piece capable of simultaneously extracting and abstracting the essential characteristics of acoustic sources, defined by the artist as “shamanic material”. Turning into a modern shaman, Ishihara transcends the intrinsic specificity of traditional sound rituals aiming at makìng them universal.
The vinyl is part of an ongoing series curated by Freddie Murphy and Chiara Lee for MAO museum.
