Dudu Pukwana

Mtutuzeli Dudu Pukwana was a South African jazz pianist and alto saxophonist from Port Elizabeth. Due to rising political oppression imposed by the Apartheid regime, Pukwana was forced to flee to Europe. While living in Europe, Pukwana preformed in many countries with multiple bands, most notably The Blue Notes and The Brotherhood of Breadth. Through this mutually felt discrimination, Pukwana developed close relationships with mentor Chris Mcgregor and drummer Louis Moholo.
