Orgonomic Music
* CD Edition * Out of print since 1981, this pressing features a full LP’s worth of unissued music, including what may be Jessica’s only vocal recording. Includes extensive liner notes by musician Jennifer Leitham and jazz historian Scott Yanow. Jessica Williams was one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time, but she was also a victim of geography. Her technical brilliance, complete control of the piano, creative imagination, wit, and constant desire to stretch herself put her at the top of h…

Viagem
Light and breezy, pure and easy, that’s how I spent most of last week, and this album was a great soundtrack for it.  Osmar Milito is an interesting figure in Brazilian jazz, having a hand in the famous Canecão club in Rio and playing with the likes of Sylvia Telles, Leny Andrade, and Flora Purim early in his career, and later on doing lots of soundtrack work for those venerable Brazilian exports, telenovelas.  His post-bossa nova records are collectible for a reason: they’re damn good listening…
Smile
*300 copies limited edition* "One of the first things you notice about Dennis Tyfus is that his lips are too small for his mouth. This becomes especially obvious if you go out to eat with him late at night in Antwerp. He has to really grease up whatever sausage he chooses with a lot of mayonnaise in order to slide it through the taut sphincter that guards his mouthly cavern. This physical fact has made Dennis’s speaking voice a thing of horror for many years, but we have only just realized he is…
Nancy & Lee Again
The four years that elapsed between Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood's initial album of duets released in 1968 and the follow-up, Nancy & Lee Again, which arrived in 1972, saw a lot of change for the duo. Sinatra's star faded and she gradually retreated from the spotlight, while Hazlewood moved to Sweden and cut a series of albums that weren't exactly popular or well received. Both of them were looking for two things: to reconnect with an old friend and to possibly squeeze out another hit. Althou…
Ikoyi Blindness
Fela used the cover of Ikoyi Blindness to announce his change of middle name from Ransome, which he now considered a slave name, to Anikulapo, which means “he who carries death in his pouch.” The front cover shows Ransome crossed out and Anikulapo added above it. Fela also used the album cover to announce the Africanisation of Africa 70’s name, changing it to Afrika 70. In the title track, Fela draws attention to the economic chasm separating the haves and have-nots of Nigerian society, contrast…
Original Suffer Head
This edition of Original Sufferhead is a major event. With the release of box set #5, and now on this reissue, the title track of this magnificent album is presented in its full-length, 25 minutes 24 seconds glory. While preparing the master disc for the box set, our engineer Jedi, Colin Young, discovered four minutes of “lost” material on the B-side of the original pressing, including a superb keyboard solo by Fela. This had been omitted from subsequent reissues. The restored version used here …
O.D.O.O. (Overtake Don Overtake Overtake)
Overtake Don Overtake Overtake was the penultimate album of newly recorded studio material released by Fela before he passed in 1997. Like its immediate predecessor, Beasts Of No Nation (also 1989), and its followup, Underground System (1992), the album finds Fela continuing to campaign for human rights and social change despite the relentless beatings, jailings and general harassment he had received from successive military regimes since the start of the 1970s.
Martin Rev
LP version. "Martin Rev's eponymous debut solo record was released in 1980, not long after the second Suicide LP appeared. It is one of the most seminal albums to have emerged in the early years of electronic music?. The tension between his hypnotic drum machine salvoes and Alan Vega's irrepressibly expressive voice on stage or in the studio created an electrifying mix, and yet these six supremely minimal compositions were no less impactful without Vega's voice. There is an enchanting simplicity…
The Souls Of Birds And Mice
2024 Stock. Released in 2015, this is arguably Dan Melchior's stand alone release in a massively impressive catalog. Eschewing the gutbucket trawl & extended electro pedal-whomp, The Souls of Birds and Mice is more fugue like; it isn’t composed of elements so much as it is composed of the composing of elements. Recorded at a pivotal time in the his life, one can detect the influences varying from his wife, Letha Rodman-Melchior to Pale Cocoon, Martin Davorin Jagodić' & Pôle running through this …
Laya
*2024 repress* With seemingly effortless precision and a sense for the imperfect, Popp merges Ambient, Third Stream and Minimal Music on his debut album "Laya". The title derives from the Sanskrit language and signifies a place of rest and mental inactivity. In the spring of 2019 Popp created these 8 tracks from hours of improvisation in his own studio. The moments thus captured were then enriched with more sounds and effects to add layers and shed the manually played percussion of all its earth…
Nadagen
Eschatology, a belief in the imminent end of the world, is as old as time itself. Long before our present fear of ecological catastrophe, our coda was advocated by various theologies and philosophies, from early Dharmic religions to the Millerite movement. The Dutch band Nadagen echoes those apocalyptic seers of old, spreading prophecies about our last days in the small number of songs that they recorded. ‘Nadagen’ translates to something like aftermath or twilight years, which reveals the exist…

Their debut album, ‘…
Zéro Propos. Zéro Titre (2LP)
A double vinyl of sound poetry composed by the duo Gaël Bandelier & Gilles Furtwängler. Zéro Propos is a Lausanne-based hyperjective poetry group created in 2020. Following three residencies at *Duuu radio in Paris in 2021 and 2022, the group gave birth to the Zéro Propos. Zéro titre project, which is a double album of 13 tracks. From scraps of sentences picked up in the street, on the internet, everywhere, they write with four hands, little by little, cutting, pasting, adding, mixing words and …
Four Stars (****)
Holy moly, if it isn’t a reissue of the super legendary Four Stars comp! This terrific artifact documenting Wellington New Zealand’s postpunk scene was originally released in 1980 (in an edition of 250) & copies have been as rare as a chook’s tooth ever since. Four ultra obscure bands - Life In The Fridge Exists, Wallsockets, Naked Spots Dance & Beat Rhythm Fashion - comprise these two sides & offer a fantastic snapshot of a radical DIY scene that played out in a vacuum at the bottom of the worl…
Arter
*2024 stock* First release of the Swedish duo Karin Johansson / Lisen Rylander Löve. Fine-veined Crinkle Weed, Wentletrap and The Two Lipped Door Snail are some of the poetically resonating titles on the pianist Karin Johansson and saxophonist Lisen Rylander Löve’s new album Arter (Species). The song titles are also names of plants and animals from the SLU Artdatabanken’s red list of threatened species. The reality that many species disappear completely from our planet yearly is what the duo sh…
La Famiglia Degli Ortega
The hidden masterpiece of Italian progressive rock is re-released as an LP. Consisting of a hybrid of various types of music, including British folklore, US West Coast sounds, primitive rhythms, Baroque classical music and traditional Italian music, this album presents a new musical style different from typical Italian symphonic rock or hard rock. Another aspect of the Italian Prog can be discovered with this album, which is impressive with the mystical sound and chorus that seem to embody the M…

Segnale Unico di Avvio
Tip! ** Edition of 100, glass-mastered CD, includes poster ** A new face from the furthest North-East of Italy, Trieste: the city of the "bora", a powerful and relentless wind that for many of its inhabitants represents a state of mind, more than a simple typical atmospheric event. Petroglifi Solubili is the project by Loris Zecchin (Solar Ipse fanzine), born in 2021 with a simple sampler (the legendary Roland SP-404) and gradually expanded with an equipment that includes a number of synths, gui…
