German music producer and performer Mike Vamp has been an active part of the early 80´ies  West-Berlin Punk, New Wave and experimental music scene. His solo performances at the Quartier Latin and at the legendary Loft, Metropol brought him respectful attention. His first release on his own label Takt Records was followed by an album-tape-release on Ralf Rexin's 007-Tapes and a 12" release on Tiara Records. West-Berlin's subculture has been determined by the painters from the "Geniale Dilletanten" and music from "Einstuerzende Neubauten", "Malaria", "Die Toedliche Doris", "Sprung aus den Wolken" and "Die Haut". Many artist wanted to be attached to those bands. Artists like Nick Cave used i.e. the spirit of the city for their recordings - as David Bowie on his album "Heroes". Later in the 80´ies Mike Vamp worked with David Harrow (Anne Clark) and Gabi Delgado (DAF) on several projects. Nobody dared or wanted to admit that there was also good pop music possible in this sub-culture. Mike Vamp was one of those artists not giving a fuck. He experimented with a 303, a 606, a guitar, his kettle drums, a 4-track recorder and graffities. His self produced New Wave tracks were always melodic, warm but still angry.
