Multi-reedist Peter Brotzmann and drummer/percussionist Hamid Drake met in the studio in New York City, April 2010, to record this double album of fiercely intense and beautiful improvised music. Recorded on April 18, 2010 at Clemente Velez Center, New York City. German free jazz saxophonist and clarinetist Peter Brötzmann: alto and tenor sax, B-flat clarinet, tarogato. American jazz drummer/percussionist, Hamid Drake: drums and percussion. Consisting of 6 improvisations, two of which are side long, the interaction between these long-time collaborators is stunning - Drake is an inventive and passionate drummer, drawing out fearsome cries from Brotzmann, who performs on alto & tenor sax, B-flat clarinet, and tarogato. The picture on the back shows the two performers in the studio after the recordings were complete, Drake with a wide smile, and Brotzmann drenched in sweat; you'll feel the same after hearing this release!
