The Vinyl Coda project returns to God Records for the second chapter of the Philip Jeck masterwork, originally released in the late 90s and now freshly re-mastered for this LP re-release. Philip Jeck revolutionised the world of experimental music with his pioneering turntable collage work, with his hazy and intuitive narrative of sounds that never quite head in the direction you expect. In these sets, Jeck uses a number of turntables and prepared records to create strange soundscapes in which crackles and pops meet with antiquated comments (from self-help records, for instance) and disembodied snippets of music from all fields. The juxtaposition of odd, unrelated sources and the accumulation of a number of layers of sound are what drive these pieces forward, what captures the attention.

...In his hands, a tool as simple as a hammer that blocks the arm of the record
player creates a loop with a taste of eternity.
Two or three such hammers can create
musical galaxies far beyond the reach of traditional instruments,
where no human ear has ever been before.
From unidentifiable rumble and grinding to brilliant instrument-snippets
 and comical voice fragments,
Philip Jeck glues sounds together as if they where never
meant  to exist on their own.
Whether it be Pachelbel's Canon or some mid-90s dance music
that's on  Philip's vinyl, but what we hear in the Vinyl Coda is his very unique musical voice – articulated  with a perfect sense for structure, suspense and sound.
