Circle X

Circle X formed in 1978 out of 2 punkbands, No Fun and the I-Holes. Originally located in Louisville, Kentucky, the band relocated to New York to take part in the no wave scene. A 7" called 'Heartbreaker' was released in 1979. Circle X stayed in France for a while where they recorded a 4 track 12" for Celluloid in 1980. The band went back to NY to record the classic 'Prehistory' LP which was released in 1983 on Enigma/Index.

Frammenti De Junk
This is the first record by this violent and mythical industrial band Circle X (just before the death of Bruce Witsiepe). Precursor (From 1977) of all New York No Wave groups, they were also famous in the art of performance, pictural arts and teXts. On this mini-CD, they leave a little the industrial kind of music they played before to eXplore more classical roots and put the uneasy singer's voice forward. A less violent but deeper work.' Today, its a great delight to see the first official Circle X live album. And what a document ! The Circle X 'Histo…
Prehistory
Some of you may remember Circle X's corrosive, caterwauling, and unutterably fabulous self-titled EP, which was originally released in 1979 and reissued a little over a decade ago by Jim O'Rourke's and David Grubbs' Dexter's Cigar label. Now the story picks up again with the long-overdue first CD release of Prehistory, Circle X's first full-length album. Prehistory was recorded in 1981 and released in 1983 by Index Records, making them, strangely enough, labelmates with Wall of Voodoo. Circle X …
