Metal Machine Music: Power To Consume Vol. 2 pushes Lou Reed’s feedback inferno into a new era, unleashing Merzbow, Masonna, Lydia Lunch, Blixa Bargeld, Martin Rev and more in a maximalist, Record Store Day 2026 hallucination of infinite noise.
First edition of the 1995 noise-fest dedicated to the Japanese king of noise from RRRecords owner Ron Lessard under his recording, using Merzbow's sounds as source material, released in the "Pure" series of his label.
Originally released as a cassette on Palemoon Productions by a 12-year-old Henry Mallard in 2011. This cassette reissue includes an 8 page booklet of photos and liner notes from Henry Mallard, his mother Margaret Rial, and Ron Lessard.
Art edition. Limited edition of 30 numbered copies. "Driven To Extremes" displays 4 high definition photographs of car dashboards and accessories as well as one of a huge inflatable. Quality stuff. The record itself seems to be sprayed gold then sandpapered smooth. The gatefold sleeve is itself held together by strong electrical tape.
Urs Leimgruber (soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone), Alexander Schubert (electronics, violin), Oliver Schwerdt (piano, percussion, organ) and Christian Lillinger (drums, percussion). Recorded April 17th 2008, Leipzig.
