Felix Kubin

Felix Kubin (born 1969), one half of the Hamburg based futuristic noise band Klangkrieg, lives and works against the rest of the world. His activities comprise Sci-Fi Pop/Noise/animation films/radio plays/experimental broadcasting. His experiences both in electroacoustic music and strange electronic pop (that he followed already in the early 80ies with his notorious band "Die Egozentrischen Zwei" — released as "the Tetchy Teenage Tapes of Felix Kubin" on SKIPP and A-Musik) induced him to launch a vinyl record label for all kinds of Dada-electronics on the edge of pop and experimental music.

Gegenwelt
Gegenwelt (Parallel World) is the second LP by CEL, a duo Kubin and Zemler formed. More melodically-evolved than their eponymous 2020 debut, it is an even more explicit example of the syncretic impulse that impelled these guys to form the band. Their basic notion was to explore the juncture between two streams of German underground sounds -- the Motorik 4/4 rhythms first posited by Can's Jaki Liebezeit and Kraftwerk's Klaus Dinger, and the sequencer-driven brain loops of early, experimental pion…
1:17
*2022 stock* Live recording from Issue Project Room, 22 November 2009. Scott Haggart, Lary Seven and Felix Kubin further expand the territory of the original conceptual vinyl record, “1:17", a continuous and lifelong composition by Scott Haggart. The original edit was psychotopologically derived from a 0.7 millisecond recorded extract of sound from a concert performed by the then anonymous Scottish art collective, Diskono (2000). It took many years for the artist to further superimpose and expan…
Chromdioxidgedachtnis
After its introduction to the public 40 years ago, the compact cassette (aka audio cassette or cassette tape) quickly became the most popular medium for copying music, allowing consumers to record directly from radio or record player to tape. soon the record industry started to worry about a decline in record sales, which led to the notorious "home taping is killing music" campaign. as a side effect, the medium has produced an independent and distinctive underground music scene in the early 1980…
Zemsta Plutona
Felix Kubin looks a lot like an alien on the cover of this set – and sounds a fair bit like a space visitor in the music as well! The work\'s got this very cool blend of electronics and playful rhythms – served up in a style that really takes us back to some of our favorite German work of the post-punk years – particularly the music of Der Plan and Pyrolator, both of whom would be a great comparison to Kubin\'s work! The tunes are catchy and playful, but also have this undercurrent of darkness t…
Territerrortorium
This 7 inch contains extracts of the radio play territerrortorium commissioned by the austrian and german broadcasting stations orf and deutschlandradio berlin. On side a two famous battles are re-animated: in 1410 the order of teutonic knights suffered defeat at grunwald, outfoxed by an united army of polish and lithuanians. 500 years later, the german army conquered the highly superior russian army at a nearby location called tannenberg. this political cocktail comes with a decent flavour of i…
