Reading Robert Briatte's biography of Paul Bowles, I discovered that his poems, unlike his novels and stories, had not been translated into German. I set to work, got his adress from Pociao, sent Paul Bowles my draft translations, and was invited by him in Tangier, Morocco, in the fall of 1993.
