Coil

Formed in London in 1983 by John Balance as a solo side project to Psychic TV, Coil developed into a full-scale musical group in 1984, when Balance cemented a partnership with Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson. Christopherson had been a founder of Psychic TV and member of Throbbing Gristle. For over twenty years Coil would be at the forefront of European experimentalism and electronic music. John Balance (1962–2004) died tragically in an accident at his home on November 13th, 2004. Peter Christopherson decided that, with the passing of John Balance, Coil would not continue. Peter Martin Christopherson died 24 November 2010 (aged 55).

Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil
Coil’s year 2000 electric storm is their next legendary chapter for legit reissue, exemplifying the fathomless variegation of their vision with overproof levels of digital noise masking deeply trippy song structures.  After tenderising flesh with the reissue of the ‘Musick To Play In The Dark’ volumes, Dais unleash Coil’s tempestuous sore thumb ‘Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil’ for a sharp right swerve into the depths of their profound catalogue. Issued the same year as ‘MTPITD’, as well as ‘…
Time Machines
2025 Much-needed repress. Starting as a rough demo tape recorded solely by Coil member Drew McDowall, Time Machines started to take full form when McDowall enthusiastically delivered these demo recordings to John Balance and Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson as sketches for a new Coil project with the primary goal of shifting Coil’s sound further into a more conceptually abstract direction. Largely recorded in 1997 using single takes, with minimal post production, these four drones contain every int…
Black Antlers
Dais reissues Coil's seminal Black Antlers, the group's final studio masterpiece completed by Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson after Jhonn Balance's passing. A vital document of the group's final creative surge - where live energy, poetic mysticism and digital experimentation reached their apex.
Recoiled
“Recoiled” is a rambunctious alchemy, of magikal Coil sensibilities and hi-tech home circa 90’s mixing technique, all fused in the cave-like early studios of Danny Hyde (Coil, Electric Sewer Age) / Peter Christopherson (Coil, Throbbing Gristle). These were the unrestrained Pre- big studio- mix downs, of four songs which long time Coil admirer / collaborator Trent Reznor requested Coil to remix. Reznor sent over the original multi-tracks and DATs to Hyde / Christopherson, who independently mixed …
The New Backwards
"The New Backwards" was conceived by Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson in 2007, revisiting stray tracks which hadn't seemed to gel with the material he had chosen for the more somber "Ape of Naples" from 2005, Coil's initial posthumous release, a sort of requiem and a kiss-goodbye to his then recently deceased partner John Balance. Significantly different to its sister release, this album collects the brilliantly chaotic and outrageously rhythmic material from the original sessions for the album tha…
Moon's Milk (In Four Phases)

First compiled as a double CD in 2002, Moon’s Milk (in Four Phases) is a suite of four EPs that Coil released seasonally via their in-house Eskaton imprint across 1998. The line-up for these sessions were John Balance, Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson, Drew McDowall, and William Breeze. Recorded primarily at their home studio in Chiswick, London on the eve of a permanent relo…
Musick To Play In The Dark
* 2021 Ltd. repress on black vinyl * Few groups in recent history forged as confounding and alchemical a body of work as Coil, the partnership of Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson and John Balance. From album to album and phase to phase their recordings spelunk perplexing depths of esoteric industrial, occult electronics, and drugged poetry, both embodying and alienating parallel currents of their peers. The late 1990's in particular were a fertile era for the duo, embracing chance, chaos, and colla…

Love's Secret Domain
*2022 gold vinyl repress with insert. 100 copies limited edition* In 1991 Coil released the third of their early classic full-length albums "Love's Secret Domain", seemingly casting aside the gloom and funereal beauty of its predecessors in favour of a painstakingly multi-layered hallucinogenic electronic beast, which unlike some of their fellow ex-industrial contemporaries' releases of the time wasn't an attempt at easy accessibility or (the-gods-forbid) danceability, but a vibrating psychedeli…
