Ennio Morricone

Few composers have shaped how a whole century of cinema sounds. Ennio Morricone (1928 to 2020) wrote music for more than five hundred films and television series, from the whistles, twangs and choirs of Sergio Leone's westerns to the long melodic lines of Once Upon a Time in America, Cinema Paradiso and The Mission. He received an honorary Oscar in 2007 and the award for best score in 2016 for The Hateful Eight. Born in Rome to a jazz trumpet player, he began composing at six and studied trumpet and composition at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory under Goffredo Petrassi.

Le Trio Infernal
Composed by Ennio Morricone for Francis Girod’s 1974 film Le Trio Infernal, this score fuses elegance and moral decay in dazzling contrast. Through waltzes, grotesque marches, and ironic chanson motifs, Morricone mirrors the film’s mordant humor and gothic perversity, crafting one of his most caustically inventive European soundtracks.
Per le Antiche Scale
In Per le Antiche Scale, Ennio Morricone sculpts a haunting and cerebral score for Mauro Bolognini’s 1975 psychological drama. Through mournful strings, dissonant gestures, and lyrical fragments, Morricone captures the fragile border between reason and madness, crafting one of his most introspective and emotionally complex film soundtracks.
La Disubbidienza
With La Disubbidienza, Ennio Morricone crafts an austere and sensual soundscape for Aldo Lado’s 1981 film. The score balances chamber intimacy and languid melodies, exploring moral tension through sparse orchestration and unexpected harmonic turns. It’s a work where desire and restraint coexist in fragile, hypnotic equilibrium.
Fatti di Gente Perbene
Originally composed in 1974 for Mauro Bolognini’s film Fatti di Gente Perbene (The Murri Affair), Ennio Morricone’s score returns in 2025 with a newly remastered limited pink-vinyl edition from Cinevox. Long considered one of his most lyrical and overlooked works, it merges romantic melancholy and psychological suspense through exquisite writing for strings, piano, and subtle chamber textures.
Veruschka
Veruschka, composed by Ennio Morricone and performed by Edda Dell'Orso, is a landmark in Italian soundtrack tradition. The album, first released on CD in 1995 with 14 tracks and later expanded, encapsulates lounge moods, ambient textures, and avant-garde fragments, capturing the ephemeral world of fashion and introspection with atmospheric precision. Double transparent blue vinyl edition of 500.

Nuovo Cinema Paradiso
The soundtrack for “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso” (1988), composed by Ennio Morricone in collaboration with his son Andrea, is a masterpiece filled with emotion, nostalgia, and beauty. The story follows …

Exorcist II: The Heretic
2025 stock In one of his first forays into big budget Hollywood, Ennio Morricone handed in one of his weirdest, eeriest scores. From the beautiful to the absolutely demented, while still playing in the same sandbox. Once you get to the deranged Satanic prog rock of “Magic And Ecstasy,” it hits you: this is the craziest we’ve ever heard Morricone. And it’s amazing. “I like the first Exorcist, because of the Catholic guilt I have, and because it scared the hell out of me; but The Heretic surpasses…
