Ennio Morricone

A masterpiece of film music history is once again coming to light: the iconic soundtrack composed by Ennio Morricone for La Moglie Più Bella (The Most Beautiful Wife), originally released in 1970. This new release invites audiences to rediscover a score that showcases the Maestro’s extraordinary ability to translate human drama, passion, and tension into unforgettable sound. La Moglie Più Bella, directed by Damiano Damiani, told the powerful true story of a young Sicilian woman’s courageous stand against the Mafia. Morricone’s compositions heighten the narrative with an evocative blend of haunting melodies, tender lyricism, and dramatic orchestral passages. Balancing intimacy with intensity, the music mirrors the protagonist’s strength, resilience, and unyielding fight for justice.

The album features some of Morricone’s most memorable thematic writing, including delicate motifs for strings and woodwinds that underscore moments of vulnerability, alongside bold, unsettling cues that bring the latent menace of organized crime into sharp relief. As always in his best work, Morricone combines experimental textures with classical sensitivity, creating a sound world that resonates long after the film ends. This definitive edition of La Moglie Più Bella offers fans of Morricone and collectors of great film music the opportunity to experience a pivotal work from one of cinema’s most influential composers. With restored audio and carefully curated presentation, the release honors both the film’s legacy and the genius of Ennio Morricone.
