Massacre was a guitar trio formed by Fred Frith, who moved to New York after the break-up of Henry Cow, with Bill Laswell (b) and Fred Marr (dr). The album was greeted with surprise and acclaim at the time as the work that steered Frith towards an aggressive, sharp-edged sound based on improvisation.
