He
"He" contains two tracks, "Extrovert", which amplifies the hum and white noise inside the turntable, and "Introvert", which is an improvised performance by rubbing the cartridge with nickel strings. Hiroaki Maki, DJ/Turntablist from Tokyo. Co-founder of the independent label/event series edition zeroso (0奏). After finding inspiration through various types of sound such as continuous sound, noise & found sounds and avant-garde music, he started his DJ career. Around the same time, he also started…

Roadless Travel
LAFMS musician Joseph Hammer creates unparalleled works of tape manipulation. However, as yet there are comparatively few solo albums by this  phenomenal artist. To rectify this situation, Art Into Life has decided to release Roadless Travel, his latest album. The album comes with a dense 24 page booklet of liner notes (essentially a full history of Hammer) by T. Sakaguchi, who has enjoyed a long friendship with him and is the foremost Japanese historian of the LAFMS scene.
Nothing Is Meant To Be
Edition of 300. Danish artist øjeRum (a.k.a. Paw Grabowski) has commanded a loyal following for his collage portraits of female subjects, while leading a dual life as a musician. Following the release of his debut album, There Is A Flaw In My Iris, øjeRum enjoyed a brief dormant period before returning to recording in earnest in 2014, unleashing a prodigious flurry of albums (many self-produced). Adorned with his beautiful collages, these physical recordings have become coveted works of art in t…
Piano Pieces
Considered one of the most influential contemporary artists, Dieter Roth was consistent in his artistic search for inner self through and produced artworks in the various media, from graphics, drawings, and sculptures, to assemblages / ready-made, sound and music recordings.Dieter Roth's Verlag was founded in 1974 under the name Dieter Roth's Familienverlag and renamed in 1978. The label gradually acquired something of a cult status in the 1970s, and Colette Roper’s “Piano Pieces”, which was rel…
First, Second and Third Drop
Fully remastered and repackaged second release of the final Ferial Confine album 'First, Second and Third Drop' by Siren Records (Japan). Here presented in Japanese mini-LP style sleeve with obi, mastered at Skye Masteringby Denis Blackham in 2012. 'First, Second and Third Drop', although never actually released when it was completed in late 1985, became the final cycle of music by Ferial Confine and marked a departure from the closing moments of the preceding album 'Meiosis' (Siren 022). Its im…
Strange And Secret Things
Robert Haigh should be a name familiar to more intrepid record buyers of the 1980's.  I discovered his EPs on L.A.Y.L.A.H. Anti-Records in the bins of Tower Records, where the label name associated his music with purveyors of sonic perversity such as Nurse With Wound, Organum, Current 93, Coil, and The Hafler Trio.  In fact it was in their company that I first heard his music tucked between those very artists on "The Fight Is On" compilation, oddly enough with a solo piano piece.  It seemed out …
Solitude
"David Jackman’s music, both as Organum and under his given name, is typically characterized by repetition, brevity and a deadpan aloofness. He’s made plenty of extremely short (sometimes one-sided) 7” singles, albums containing multiple slight variations on a single piece, and albums of compositional (if not sonic) minimalism. It’s Jackman’s typical move to provide very little information beyond a word, or sometimes an image. Lately, he’s been predisposed to not even providing an image; just as…
Meiosis
*2022 stock* Ferial Confine is an early Andrew Chalk experimental, somewhat noise-based project. Meiosis was originally released as a cassette on Broken Flag in 1985. You can certainly hear the influence of The New Blockaders and, to some extent, Whitehouse (no shouting, though), but Meiosis is a fine example of what was 'in the air' for a small amount of people scattered around the world at the time. I think the thing that keeps a lot of this music so relevant is the purity and uncompromising n…

Neuter
Sofie Herner (Enhet För Fri Musik, Neutral) returns with Neuter, the first proper album since the Gitarrmusik III-X LP released on Förlag För Fri Musik back in 2017. Neuter was recorded between 2018 and 2021 and is the culmination of a very distinctive and unmistakable sound Sofie has developed and refined during close to 10 years now. The music of Leda is based on primitive guitar loops of various lenghts, loops that intervenes and creates peculiar rhythms and subtle harmonies. Slow-burning pro…

Introducing: Ville Lähteenmäki Trio
“Ville Lähteenmäki Trio is a fresh jazz band formed in Trondheim 2022, featuring young Finnish and Norwegian musicians. Influenced by American jazz legends of the 60s and 70s, they blend energetic playing, bold melodies, and intense improvisations in the Dolphy-Murray-Mahall lineage”
15/15
*2023 stock* 15/15 was commissioned for the 32-speaker system Soundpiece, which is installed under the floor of the square. With the sound source being invisible for the listener, playing music on this system has something quite magical, as if the sounds are just floating in the air. Instead of ignoring or (to the contrary) overpowering the existing sounds, I decided to make it more like a dialogue. I wanted to keep space in the music, and to have the environment play a part in it. The sounds I’…

Duets 71977
*2023 stock* "The mid 1970s was an exciting time for free improvisation and a great deal was happening all over the world as like minded musicians were drawn to each other by a magnetic pull that had us crossing oceans and large distances of land to work together. England, America, Italy, Germany, Holland, Canada, Japan, Australia and many other territories all boasted scenes of various sizes, and players were mixing and matching in a wide variety of formations, across several generations. Recor…
Lost In June
*2023 stock* "There are no coincidences in life. Everything responds to the principle of cause and effect. In all that exists, what often seems to be the result of “chance happening” always comes from a precise and definite source located “somewhere out there,” but that in fact rests deep within each one of us. Everything is linked. There is a reason for everything that we find on our path, even if we do not understand what its purpose really is at the time of its first manifestation. It is ofte…
Clangs
*2023 stock* "I have a vivid memory of the time I first met Steve Lacy in Milan: I had finally the opportunity not only to know but to perform with one of the myths of the avant-garde scene of the time. As hermetic and polite as his music, Steve was the man who, with his phrase 'play what you feel' tore down the curtain that separated my technique from my creativity. Clang swas the fruit of a number of concerts and two weeks we spent together, sometimes talking, sometimes just simply in silence,…
