Third Noise Principle, a four CD box-set that covers nine crucial years in the development of electronic music in North America. The huge tracklist doesn’t just stick to one area (e.g. academic electronics or the nightclub), but includes all kinds of different areas, from Smegma and Suicide to The Residents and Laurie Spiegel. Top value release. A fantastic entry in the Close To The Noise Floor series – one that looks at early American experiments with electronics – but from the DIY generation t…

The brilliant third album from Mike Westbrook – a sharp-edged, two volume set with a scathing anti-war theme! The work is Westbrook's first total-concept album, and it's still one of his best – written with an edge that's free from some of the more whimsical touches that showed up in Mike's later years, and played by a core group of British avant soloists with searing intensity! You've never heard large group scoring like this – bold, ambitious, and quite different than most of what's c…
Three British albums produced by Peter Eden and released in one year – 1970-1971 – are the matter of this attractive box set, with contributions from legends of British jazz and indeed classical giants – bassist Barry Guy (born 1947) has since made a name for himself in the more lofty world of early music, though not exclusively so.
Saxophonist Mike Osborne’s Outback is the first of the discs, a bold, explorative record comprising just two tracks from his trio, the first of which, So It Is, …

Supremely atmospheric Ennio Morricone score to a lesser known, but nonetheless stylish and satisfying Sergio Corbucci production; a cross between a Spaghetti Western and a wild west road movie, indeed, a fine example of a film that combines both Italian and American western film traditions.

American group Destroy All Monsters caused quite a stir when they first appeared in the UK. Featuring guitarist Mike Davis who had previously played in The MC5, Ron Asheton, bass player from The Stooges and drummer Rob King, the band were completed by vocalist and ex-model Niagara. Despite all of this, the band recorded only three singles for Cherry Red, all of which are contained on this mid-price CD.
When writer William S. Burroughs and artist Brion Gysin met Anthony Balch at the Beat Hotel in Paris at the start of the '60s they knew they had the ideal person to assist them in translating the ideas they had explored in experimental art forms to film. Balch began his movie-making career collaborating with Burroughs on two shorts 'Towers Open Fire' and 'The Cut Ups.' The former is a relatively straightforward attempt to capture the essence of Burroughs writing on film, utilizing key themes and…
