Oxide, in two parts, is the digital transfer of Super 8 and 16mm films that have been subjected to rust growth pre- and post-photochemical processing, with subsequent magnetised rusting recorded to tape using various sizes of tape head. A multi-channel composition for electric organ, commissioned by L’ull Cec for The Game of Life Foundation’s spatialisation sound system (consisting of 192 speakers and 12 subwoofers, using the Wave Field Synthesis technique). Performed on 20 June 2012 at Fabra i Coats, Barcelona. Crritic!
Two interlocking pieces dedicated to Hans Keller, Desmond Leslie and Lester Bangs. I Only Asked uses an interview recording — questions only — to modulate various sound parameters, and is a reworking of a piece first performed at Café OTO, London in March 2011. Hatchet Job is based on a computer speech recording of all the negative reviews Moliné has penned for The Wire magazine in the last ten years. These amount to around 50,000 words.
Crossarc chute
Crossarc Chute was inspired by my interest in the compositional strategies adopted for the early analogue electronics of the 1950s and ’60s, yet using digital processes and my own adaptations. Starting with pulse sounds, predefined filtering techniques and rules became the springboard from which I was able to generate many new sounds. These parameters formed a kind of system from which I could at times deviate.For one piece, Detail II, I separated the frequencybands of a group of sounds and then…

Avast!
Avast! was created from field recordings made between 2009 and 2012 in Lyttelton, a volcanic harbour on the South Island of New Zealand. Sounds were captured at sites around the natural ampthitheatre of this extinct caldera: from abandoned wartime bunkers on the top of the crater rim to the port and its cacophony of cargo ships, tugs and workshops. "Umbra was recorded in 2010 in Barcelona. I used a modified  AM radio and a home-made oscillator. I found the radio in the street the previous year, discarded outside a huge warehouse full of electronic ‘garbage’. I took it to my studio and modified it using circuit-bending techniques.
