Unknown City
*300 copies limited release* Creeping through an imaginary border, sidesteppin’ through the night like cyber phantoms eavesdropping on early morning machinery shifts, an industrial solstice for pagan mystics. After five years Torino’s mysterious SabaSaba are back with ‘Unknown City’ an imaginary soundtrack for a dystopian city: digital raga, horror Exotica, half-speed techno, metallic dub and organic electronics. The duo of Andrea Marini (synth, guitar, electronics, tapes) and Gabriele Maggiorot…

Cold Drinks, Hot Dreams
LP pressed at RTI. Tip-on jacket printed at Stoughton Printing Co. Atrás del Cosmos have been called Mexico’s first free jazz ensemble. Founded in 1975 by pianist Ana Ruiz, saxophonist Henry West, and percussionist Evry Mann, the trio soon became a central force in Mexico City’s creative arts community, mentoring a generation of improvisers, incorporating a revolving cast of artists into their immersive happenings, and sustaining a scene through their legendary weekly performances at El Galeón t…
Turzets
The latest in a prolific string of solo and collaborative releases by James Rushford, Turzets collects a pair of new works primarily created and recorded last year while the Australian composer-performer was in residence at La Becque, an art center on Lake Geneva in Switzerland. The side-length piece “Fallaway Whisk” explores hesitation in its many forms—reticence of speech, sonic restraint—using live, abstracted translations of text from English to German against a lush and swelling soundscape.…
The Gerogerigegege (1985 Version) / Interested In Action
The Gerogerigegege is a project I've dreamed of working with since hearing Hotel Ultra early on in my path of discovering all that noise has to offer. Here they offer up a noisy guitar and drum recording from 1985 Black Leather Jesus was also a project I dreamed of working with back then as well, and we kinda know what happened there. This is a more modern recording, of course. Harsh feedback, heavy crunch, and filthy, pervy fucking samples. I love how this one turned out.
The White Arcades
*2024 stock* A classic Harold Budd album originally released in 1988. Partly recorded at the Cocteau Twins studio with production help from Robin Guthrie and Brian Eno, 'The White Arcades' effortless blend of glistening synths, limpid piano notes, foggy textures and space result in a beautiful contemplative whole. “Although its aura is ethereal and unworldly, Budd's music is actually an exemplary form of humanly useful music. When the mundane urgencies of life, or the nonsense of our political c…
Ghost
Formed in 1984, Ghost burgeoned slowly, blowing open the gate in 1990 with their eponymous debut. Opening with a vast spirit plosion – shards of antique light and clouds of centuries-old, dust-laden airs escaping from a primeval tomb – they settle into the deep feeling. A variety of mostly acoustic instruments aids their projection of traditional sounds from space and time, troubadours of unknown, an enigma of eternal trippiness all about them.
La Donna Della Domenica
"La donna della domenica" is a 1975 Italian- and French-produced crime film directed by Luigi Comencini and starring Marcello Mastroianni, Jacqueline Bisset and Jean-Louis Trintignant. The soundtrack of this film, composed, orchestrated and conducted by Ennio Morricone, highlights the typical elements of the Maestro's style, and is mainly made up of a beautiful main theme and numerous variations, alternating with more pressing moments, perfect for a detective film, evoking the atmosphere of "Inv…

Ant Nest

Exposição Popular
“Exposição Popular” is the new album from Rio de Janeiro based producer and composer Guerrinha, sonically orbits 80´s new wave & fusion jazz, imagine a lost ECM gem, layered in low-fi subterranean exoticism, that somehow conjures the soundtracks of Angelo Badalamenti. Here we find Guerrinha loosened up, the rhythm spilling out, playfully impossible to grasp as it floats over space-age ambient synth and organ work that takes references from Pat Metheny, John Scofield and Rita Lee.   “The last LP,…
C'Era Una Volta Il West
55 years ago, the fourth Western movie directed by Sergio Leone, C’Era Una Volta Il West, was screened for the first time, and in the plans of the director, should have closed the circle of his engagement with this cinematic genre. Compared to the Dollars Trilogy, the movie marks an important stylistic change; it’s an epic full of allegories, with an immensely powerful script. Considered by many to be Ennio Morricone’s masterpiece, it marks an evolution in his music, which often takes over for t…
