On Rest In Peace: The Final Concert, Bauhaus capture their 1983 Hammersmith Palais swan song across two discs, delivering gothic rock's founding quartet - Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins - at their theatrical, darkly charged peak before dissolving into legend.

Rest In Peace: The Final Concert preserves the last full stand of Bauhaus, the English gothic rock pioneers who helped invent a sound and aesthetic that would echo through decades. Recorded live at the Hammersmith Palais in London in 1983, the album documents the band's farewell performance before their initial split, capturing Peter Murphy on vocals and guitar, Daniel Ash on guitar, David J on bass and Kevin Haskins on drums in a setting that felt less like a typical gig and more like a ritual marking the end of an era. Released years later as a double album, the first disc presents the main concert while the second focuses on the encore, allowing the full arc of the evening to unfold without compression.

The setlist pulls from across Bauhaus's brief but seismic catalog, opening with "(Introduction) Satori" and moving through defining tracks like "Burning from the Inside," "In Fear of Fear," "Terror Couple Kill Colonel," "The Spy in the Cab," "She's in Parties," "Antonin Artaud," "Passion of Lovers," "Stigmata Martyr," "Kick in the Eye" and the band's signature "Dark Entries." Live, Bauhaus amplified the dramatic tension and gothic grandeur already present in their studio work. Murphy's vocal delivery was theatrical yet visceral, shifting from whisper to howl, while Ash's guitar work carved out jagged, reverb‑drenched lines that intertwined with David J's deep, melodic bass and Haskins's precise, propulsive drumming. The Hammersmith Palais setting, a legendary London venue, added to the sense of occasion - this wasn't just another show but a closing chapter witnessed by fans who understood they were seeing the band for what might be the last time.
