Indistinction #1
The game with quiet and loud is not new, but it has not lost its effect. “indistinction #1” proves this impressively, as the three songs on rsn's debut album create a highly immersive moment. they move and yet remain rigid in their depths. they build up and break down. like a current through which you are sucked - wild, yet somehow safe, always moving forward. if you allow yourself to do so, “indistinction #1” is an excursion into your inner self.
Clarity #1
The collaboration between pianist Merle Louise and rsn follows an improvisational approach, as all the songs were created spontaneously and in a flow. while the use of piano is or has become a main element in ambient music, the sound of “clarity #1” is different. instead of reproducing the typical patterns and harmonies of the genre, two styles meet here and interweave at the moment of creation. the drone and ambient soundscapes of rsn are enriched by piano melodies and patterns that are atypica…
Porosity #1
The permanence and recurrence of “porosity #1” by Rsn creates a kind of meditative permeability. the musical maelstrom creates a seemingly endless surface that develops from the two-dimensional to the three-dimensional. but this surface is porous and has loopholes. it is not a fast ride through this soundscape, but rather a walk - and the landscape hardly changes noticeably, but there is a resolution, a small aftermath. “porosity #1” is slow and deliberate, waiting and gentle.
Shift #1
"shift #1" is a collaboration album by the two drone/ambient artists rsn and N. the album comprises three songs that deal with semitone shifts, creating an aesthetic depth of sound on the one hand and building up a long arc of tension on the other. "shift #1" is a musical colossus - sound, structure and length create an immersive sound experience. quiet, rather contemplative sounds gradually develop into an alert sound construct. sometimes, however, it remains calm and inward-looking, meditative…
Interweaving #1
“interweaving #1” is the sound-aesthetic result of an improvised session by rsn and NAGEN. With a setup of stereo guitar, bass, electric kalimba, selfbuilt instruments like the "portanuum", sampled field recordings and some little synths, seven songs or sound collages were created, which combine the drone and ambient of rsn with the improvisational art of NAGEN. “interweaving #1” is a dynamic sound experience with a focus on noise and drone, but much more.

Interior Music
After a collage tape collab with Bardo Todol back in 2022 (SUC52, Magnetic Road to Hell) Robert Millis finally gets his Discrepant debut proper, a much overdue entryin our random catalogue of lost musical oddities. The not so self explanatory title Interior Music explores Millis obsession with hidden sounds and its anomalies. An hermetic rearrangement of emptiness could be another more big headed title. But I leave the man to talk about his thing: ‘’The phrase interior music occurred to me a few…

Behind Your Very Eyes
2003 release ** "A collaboration between Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound) and Paul Bradley (another Preston-based composer, who manipulates sound with his computer in a most un-computer like way). Faint At The Loudest Hour
2001 release ** "Faint at the Loudest Hour is the astonishing solo debut by guitarist Alexander Turnquist, part of a young generation of guitar players who have taken their incredible virtuosity and turned it into something actually worth listening to. Like James Blackshaw, Jack Rose, Glenn Jones, etc, this could roughly be described as "raga" guitar, with its long, modal compositions and hypnotic overtone play. Unlike most of his peers, Alex employs a variety of extended techniques ala Hans Rei…
Azimuth
Azimuth is the first full-length collaboration from Tyresta (aka Chicago-based Nick Turner) and cellist Simon McCorry (Gloucestershire, UK), featuring a quintet of impressionistic arrangements that combine swells of harmonic guitar with delicately composed strings and accents of modular synth. The resulting formations convey both the acoustic resonance of chamber music, and the experimental wash and warmth of shoegaze, making for a unique creation that is equal parts meditative and narrative. “S…
Diazepam

Gnäw II
Tip! “We draw a magic circle and accept a new set of rules that reigns from there,” says Arash Ghasemi in describing the foundation of Gnäw, his duo with Simo Hakalisto. Hakalisto and Ghasemi first met in Milano, but they were born and raised in Finland and Iran, respectively. Gnäw melts together these musical roots with various chips and splinters from the different musical worlds and genres they have collected along the way. While Ghasemi brings an understanding of the vastness of the desert, …

1-Bit Symphony
Tip! *2025 stock* Tristan Perich's 1-Bit Symphony is a dazzlingly low-fi electronic composition in five movements on a single microchip. A complete electronic circuit utilizes on and off electrical pulses, synthesized by assembly code, to manifest data as sound.
