Abstersion
Dinzu Artefacts presents Abstersion by Lorenzo Abattoir. An exquisite collage exploring the internal sound-world of an upright piano. The piano here has shed its traditional use as a musical instrument to emerge as a wonderfully sonorous body in itself. Incidental sounds which are typically relegated to the periphery are moved towards the center of attention in a kaleidoscopic unity which privileges no sound over any other, opening up a whole world of noise, tone, and every shade between.
Filters

Approaching the concept of endless repetition through the prism of his radiant pianism, Golub’s loops unite the austerity of the systems-based with the infinite variety & imagination of live performance. What does it mean to physically perform something that repeats endlessly? To press down the keys on a piano in the s…

Bonobo Beach: Some More Guitar Solos
*Limited edition of 500 copies.* Subtitled “some more guitar solos,” Bonobo Beach was German guitarist and instrument inventor Hans Reichel’s fourth and final record of solo guitar works. After this record, Reichel would turn much of his attention to the bowed wooden-tongued instrument he created called the daxophone. Reichel recorded the six tracks at his home in Wuppertal in April, 1981, and in the process made what might be his masterpiece. These are not just some more guitar solos. Concentra…
Histoire de l’Art
*In process of stocking. Limited to 50 hand-numbered copies.* In the fall of 2018 a close friend of Harold Schellinx registered as an undergraduate student in art history at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne UFR3. As French is not her mother tongue, she recorded the many live-lectures she was attending with a dictaphone application on her iPhone, so as to be able to eventually re-listen to, all or parts of, some of them. During these lectures a substantial fraction of the students took no…
Arch of Motion
*Edition of 300* In recent years Swedish musician Linnéa Talp has grown interested in liminal spaces of sound, increasingly searching for her breath deep within passages of a song when instruments gently and patiently bridge the verses. In 2020 she released Cochlea, a brooding pop-rock record made under the name Deerest. “I’ve been trying to work with my body, my breath and my listening,” she says of her work since finishing that release. “I wanted to integrate a sense of slow and simple movemen…

The Gleam
*In process of stocking* Like its predecessor, Philos, The Gleam is a completely solo work, all the music composed and played by Park Jiha on the piri, a type of oboe, the saenghwang, a mouth organ (shown on the album cover art), the hammered dulcimer known as the yanggeum, and glockenspiel. There’s a stark clarity to the sound, yet it’s never spare or empty. There’s a searching warmth to what she does. It’s minimal without being minimalist, occasionally presenting itself with the formality of t…

Oxygen Room
“Oxygen Room is a wonderfully moody, at points downright haunting/uneasy trip into primally slurred and ritual tipped improv. The four-track CD appears on Slovenia’s Inexhaustible Editions, and I must say it’s a most compelling and often eerier ride of an album – really taking the improv form down a fairly original and distinctive path. The CD comes presented in a white six-panel digipak – this features on its cover and first inside flap two different green circles made up of different shapes, th…
