Experimental Products was a synthesizer group founded in 1982 by Mark Wilde and Michael Gross. The two came from northern Delaware and played mostly on the Philadelphia club circuit, with synthesizers and a drum machine in place of guitars and drums. Their only album, Prototype, was self-produced in 1982 and later became one of the costliest minimal synth records among collectors. The 1984 EP Glowing in the Dark, on Short Circuit Records, reached the Midwest dance club charts the following year, and a second EP, Experiment!, followed in 1987, when the group had grown to four. Vinyl On Demand reissued Prototype in 2008 and has since issued archival compilations.
