Intercommunal Free Dance Music Orchestra is the open ensemble that the French pianist François Tusques (born in Paris in 1938) started in the early 1970s. Its aim was to bring together musicians of different origins and communities, and its music joins free jazz to dance music, African music, revolutionary songs and French regional traditions. Tusques was already a central name of French free jazz, having led the 1965 album Free Jazz with Michel Portal, Bernard Vitet, François Jeanneau and Beb Guérin.
