Scott Yoo
Scott Yoo was born in Tokyo in 1971 to a Korean father and a Japanese mother and raised in Connecticut. He began violin at three and studied at Juilliard and Harvard. In 1994 he co-founded the Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra, which he conducted in Boston, and since 2016 he has led the Mexico City Philharmonic. He has hosted and produced the PBS series Now Hear This since 2019. On New Orchestral Music from Mexico (Mode, 2025) he conducts the Mexico City Philharmonic in works by Hilda Paredes, Ana Lara, Andrea Chamizo, Marcela Rodríguez and Georgina Derbez.
