While some of the sounds on this album could be the noise produced by various electric equipment (fax machine buzz, phone busy tones etc.) this album is actually to provide “a standard by which record playing equipment can be checked for frequency response, and distortion, without equipment other than an oscilloscope and volume indicator.” Recorded and annotated by Peter Bartok. The Soninke collective consciousness finds its origins in a founding myth, a blood pact: the legend of Biida and the decadence of the empire of Ghana or Wagadu (evoked by Léopold Sédar Senghor as a land of plenty in his poem Le Kaya Magan). From the 3rd century AD, gathered in the region of Sahel, on the edge of the Sahara desert, the Soninko ruled over their kingdom and its capital Kumbi Saleh. Born on the campuses of Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, and centred around newly formed independent label and left-wing stronghold URC, this uniquely Japanese form of folk expression provided an outlet f…

A group of people is looking back on a collective experience, unsure if they were part of this situation or merely outside spectators. While they talk them selves through the event, one starts to mutate as different objects in the environment starts to behave in strange ways. Then the space suddenly completely transforms, and they start to realise how everything in this reality has a changeable and rather diffuse nature. Performed by Karis Zidore, Miriam Kongstad, Jakob Littauer, Cæcilie Trier, …
