"A live set comprising nine songs all written by the good pastor, this kicks off with the title track, which bemoans churches and preachers who've quit praising and preaching, and goes on to offer encouragement to anyone on the verge of doing likewise. Donald and a few other people take turns to lead the singing. There's nothing here to set this album apart from the mass of choir-based gospel albums in an over-crowded sector of the Christian music market. All the familiar gospel cliches are here…

I was immediately fascinated by the sonic world of the gong and related metal percussion and I started dreaming a future that could possibly include those marvelous instruments. Few years later, while in New York on my first US trip, I found few Albums of Balinese Music in a small record store in the Greenwic…
*2023 stock* "The West Coast Chamber Jazz Trio, recently formed, remains faithful to its name, in the sense that the undoubted chamber size and the jazz component, apparent in rhythmic melodic lines and improvisation always kept under control, are beautifully conjugated in the narrative modes, colloquialisms and relaxed of the Californian jazz, not only from the fifties and sixties, but also that one of the most recent landings …" - Libero Farnè
*2023 stock* "Celebrating a label's 35th anniversary at a venue as iconic as The Stone in New York City is already quite revealing of the nature of the music to be heard, i.e. definitely unusual and daring, definitely with no piano bar and no noisy cash register... But with the present celebration, there was an added element of surprise, as Andrea Centazzo — founder of the creative Ictus label and curator of the 12 nights Festival (April 1-14, 2012) -- brought for the first time ever to the hear…

Theodore Wild Ride started from the collaboration between French keyboardists Christine Ott (regular collaborator of Yann Tiersen, Tindersticks, Oiseaux-Tempête...), Mathieu Gabry (Snowdrops) and Oed player Ophir Levy. Theodore Wild Ride celebrates musical freedom and redefines the relationship between space and time with a special, unexpected orchestration.
*Limited edition of 200 copies.* A new work for the 'Like the Snow' project by Luca Mazzariol, a remarkable Italian artist who in three years has put out as many CDs of excellent music of difficult stylistic cataloguing, among whose textures - always strongly evocative and of great emotional impact - alternate dreamy and romantic atmospheres, passages with an epic and almost 'orchestral' pace, eclectic rhythmic digressions sometimes coloured by more distinctly electronic sounds, delicate ambient…
At the top of a carpeted staircase in a Georgian country home a blue wooden rocking horse stands completely still in front of a closed window with a view out onto the green hills and trees and fields beyond. A child rides a stationary wooden horse and travels to faraway places without ever leaving the security of his room. The movement of a rocking horse is similar to that of a cradle, or a swing, or a lullaby. Its about being quiet, its about balance, its about being at home and thinking of els…
Aurinkovuosi brings together five cassette singles made by J. K., which were originally released in small editions (10 copies each) by Vuosi label during 2018–2022. These ten season-inspired minimal "audio vignettes" combine various electroacoustic sounds and techniques with field recordings. They are also experiments on short-form drone piece composing. The duration of the compositions were determined by the cassettes found at the flea markets on which the original recordings were released.

Seven sound-paintings inspired by the poems of Finnish writer Eeva-Liisa Manner and the paths of the Deep North which revolve around the boreal circle, those lakes, shores, cliffs, fjords and large forests inhabited by other lives, other presences than ours. Le rêve, l’ombre et la vision is constructed from field recordings of natural phenomena at various open sites: echo in a wooded valley, geyser, cliffs rocks, glacial lake sculpted by a forgotten glacier, fire, landscape after freezing rain, …
"Exquisitely performed by the Benaud Trio … a meditative stillness and a quality of confiding sincerity … heightened by the unpredictability with which notes appear and disappear … there are special joys here.” - Graham Strahle, The Weekend Australian
*2023 stock* "Real Time is an extraordinary example of interaction between musicians coming from different worlds of new music. I had the chance to perform with those two great musicians on other occasions: in duo with Curran and in duo, trio and sextet with Parker. Alvin came from the American school, full of minimalist references, melodic structures and open to all kinds of contamination.
Evan had left jazz to accomplish his own instrumental language, aiming at total improvisation. The idea of…
*2023 stock* "The story behind this CD is really singular and date back to a couple of years ago. One day I got an e-mail from Marco Cappelli a young Italian guitarist, living in New York and making quickly a reputation in the avant-garde and improvised music scene. Marco was trying to establish a contact, claiming similarities between my and his experience. I was intrigued by the letter and, even if my recent music was totally on another planet, I decided to write him and establish a relationsh…
*2023 stock* "This is quite an attention-catching band, with its two very clever trombones styles, a piano fully explored both inside and outside, and a truly stunning multi-effects percussions set. As a quartet, the musicians had never played together until that particular evening of the Ictus’ 35th anniversary Festival. Yet what we hear from the very first bars is a band in the communion of the moment, painting together greatly textured music with many surprising turns. Their creative energies…

I think to remember that we met briefly in 1975 only and then our paths diverged until that email out of the blue. Roberto was in Los Angeles visiting, so we had the opportunity to reconnect and meet. I had the chance to listen to his past works and I was very impressed. Very versatile and innovative guitarist who deserves much greater recognition, Roberto Zorzi is one of the …
*2023 stock* "On September 23, 2010, the day following Andrea's Kennedy Center appearance, two of my colleagues in the Twenty-first Century Chamber Ensemble, Janel Leppin (cello) and Mike Sebastian (reeds), came over to my home to jam. It was the anniversary of Coltrane's birth -- thus, "impressions" in this work's title to honor the master's legacy. I set up my recording rig to capture what I could. It was, in Andrea's words, "battlefield conditions": his expansive percussion rig in the living …
This LP and CD recorded in New Zealand in 2004, is the duo recording of New Zealand guitarist Donald McPherson and Japanese guitarist Tetuzi Akiyama. A beautiful meeting of 2 virtuoso acoustic guitarists, both thoroughly schooled in the vast world of improvising. This record finds Tetuzi and Donald playing melodic folk improvisations that grow and morph into compositions that on each listening uncover some new layer of beauty. Both playing on acoustic guitar, they have a level of communication a…
2023 small repress. The year 1965 was a turning point in the life of John Coltrane. It was at this point that he crossed the line into the free jazz arena that he had been approaching since the early '60s. Besides his landmark Ascension, no album better illustrates this than the awe-inspiring Meditations. Coltrane's regular quartet -- McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (bass), and Elvin Jones (drums) -- is expanded here with second drummer Rashied Ali (who assumed Jones' spot after this album) …
Beyond rare private press album from 1974, a fantastic mix of progressive rock with acid-folk, spaced-out psychedelia and cool conceptual / soundtrack vibe. Pete Fine is a virtuoso acoustic and electric guitarist and also a self-taught composer and orchestrator. After playing with psychedelic hard-rock trio Flow in the early 70s in New York, Pete, influenced by classical composers like Anton Bruckner, started to focus on his 12-string guitar, composing music in a symphonic style.

Kɑːmos is the duo of Aino Peltomaa and Nathan Wouters. Aino Peltomaa (FIN) is a vocalist with a radiating sound. She performs widely with medieval, renaissance and contemporary music. In 2018, she directed and performed Ordo Virtutum by Hildegard von Bingen with the Finnish Kaari Ensemble. This medieval, mystic nun keeps on intriguing: her songs are also part of Aino’s project Harmony of the Spheres and her words are sometimes used in the lyrics of Kɑːmos.Nathan Wouters (BE) plays the bass as if…
