The Still Life
The Still Life is Karla Borecky's long-awaited second album following 2011's Still In Your Pocket. In between her work with Idea Fire Company, Karla has been slowly building a new repertoire of solo pieces. She threads together simple, whirling piano numbers. Lines of blue sadness, red memories, and green dreams, stitched with charm and care, The Still Life is an approachable album in the best way possible. Whatever your hobby may be, The Still Life will set the mood. This album also fea…
All Of The Time
**Special Edition of 30 with original signed Jean Dupuy drawing** All Of The Time is the first comprehensive album of Jean Dupuy's sound works, collecting recordings from 1969-2017. Dupuy started his artistic career as a painter but shifted his practice when he moved from France to New York in 1967. Dupuy experimented with new technologies, and soon became a prominent figure in the Art and Technology movement. In 1968 he participated with an inventive sound, light and color installation, Heart B…
Cri-Rythmes
Edition of 250. Recital presents a reissue of François Dufrêne's Cri-Rythmes, originally issued in 1977. A remastered vinyl issue of the impossible-to-find cassette by French sound poet Dufrêne (1930-1982), this LP holds tracks not available since then. Dufrêne swallows the microphone, gargles the capsule, then vomits up the cables. Claustrophobic, verbal seizures, revealing once more that Dufrêne is king and all the pages of poetic history now have his spit on them. Includes memorial/tribute wr…
Arcanum 17
"Reidemeister Move's Arcanum 17 is a sound novella recorded in 2012 in remote Eastern Quebec. Reidemeister Move is Christopher Williams, a composer and contrabass player who worked with Ben Patterson (amongst an army of other mentors) and Robin Hayward, a microtonal tubist and composer who has performed music written for him by Christian Wolff and Alvin Lucier. Arcanum 17, based on the André Breton novel (1945) of the same name, was co-written by Williams and Charlie Morrow (one may recall that …
Poetry & Music
Essential anthology culling sonic experiments made between late '60s and early 70s by the legendary composer, performer, and poet Jackson MacLow. The work of Jackson MacLow, was concerned with the primacy of words, their structures and especially their sounds, and the ways that they could combine with each other beyond the strictures of linguistic framework. His alternative frameworks often depended on chance, discovering ways randomly to combine words or pieces of works to create new forms and …

Unburdened Light
**Unreleased recordings: 2001 – 2004. Includes 8-page 9″x9″ booklet. Edition of 300** The Ivytree, as some may know, is the project of San Franciscan musician Glenn Donaldson. In the early 2000s Glenn was a founder of the Jewelled Antler Collective, forming such projects as The Blithe Sons, Thuja, and The Skygreen Leopards, among many others. The range of projects he is associated with all beautifully web together. Between 2001 and 2005 Donaldson published a handful of discs under the names The …
Thirteen Harmonies (Cage, 1986)
Recital label head Sean McCann on the release: "I have been a fan of Derek Baron's music for only a small amount of time. But I appreciate how he and his cohorts blend technical talent and technical knowledge with abstract ideas and abstract approaches. Cop Tears is made up of Derek Baron, Cameron Kapoor, and Andrew Wilhite. This album is a four-track recording of the group playing one of my favorite John Cage pieces, Thirteen Harmonies. It was originally published in a tiny edition of 40 CDrs b…
Empty Pool To No One
**Edition of 200** Here, Asha Sheshadri and Christian Mirande record together as Open Corner. Vocal accounts of mundane suburbia and human despondency by Asha, under a woven forest of pops and cracks and creaks courtesy of Christian. In a way the texts are reminiscent of Robert Ashley's Au Pair pieces -- from the second Atalanta CD (LCD 3303CD) -- overrun by the swamp of a broken dishwasher and a leaking wine fridge. Emotionally and sonically claustrophobic. A unique take on voice and sound: in-…
Toot! Too
It is with such pleasure that I introduce the first vinyl LP by composer/event-maker Charlie Morrow.  Toot! Too culls performance recordings from 1970 to 2014.  It focuses on his Wave Music series, which are compositions based around swarms of like-instruments; i.e. sixty clarinets, conch choruses, and an army of drums and bugle horns, etc. A personal favorite is the 1978 piece, “100 Musicians With Lights” which was performed at dusk in Central Park. One hundred players (brass, reeds, percussion…
The End of the Line (Air Variations)
It may be known or unknown, but apart from Idea Fire Company’s first two collage-style LPs and The Island Of Taste, all IFCO LPs have been recorded live. There are some scattered studio pieces on Anti-Natural and Stranded, but otherwise, there are only a couple of overdubs or edits per LP. We also rarely do more than one take of any of the pieces. Unless there is a sound problem or a very egregious error, I never see any need for it. One of the many points of IFCO is that the music is being play…
Pretty as Ever
The fourth LP in Recital's Loren Connors editions/reissue series. Pretty As Ever is a beautiful collection of Loren's guitar ballads, dedicated to his wife Suzanne. It includes the "Pretty As Ever" and "Trinity" suites, from the out-of-print album Sails (2005), alongside the complete Little Match Girl (2000). This album falls in line with the other LPs Recital has published, Airs (2015), Lullaby (2016), Evangeline (2017)... as hopeful and careful as a heartbeat. This LP includes "Woman of Sorro…
Catsitting at a Musician’s Apartment (Art edition)
Eric Schmid’s most musical edition so far.  Playing Coldplay on a synth, acoustic guitar bar-chords, DJing LPs, annoying sampler, cooking hamburgers. All you could hope for. Edition of 80 Cassettes, housed in a plastic box 10-page Pamphlet Caramel chocolate square Marlboro Red Cigarette
This Floating World
A sublime addition to Sean McCann’s Recital Program, This Floating World is Roger Eno’s first solo LP in a decade, following on from Anatomy [2008] and a split LP with Plumbline in 2013. Mostly solo piano expressions, but with a few intriguing embellishments of electronics in Garden, vocals on Empty Room, and sonorous chimes in Riddle, saving the detuned pearl of Out of Tune, Out of Time, Out of Here for dessert. “This Floating World holds rustic and melancholic piano works, as grey and m…
Alain Badiou
Eric as Alain. Philosophical trimmings as unabashed art. Satire isn't mean, it's about being funny. Get in on the joke. Eric as Homer Simpson. Includes 88-page artist's book; Softbound: 8.5″ x 11″. Edition of 170.
Joan of Arc
**Edition of 200** Joan Of Arc is a project conceived by Eric Schmid and Sean McCann, running in line with St. Francis and St. Paul. This series of CD and pamphlets, writings bounded together with unbounded audio elements. Schmid and McCann roped in professional vocalist Christina Stanley to sing the last piece, which is a tip to Ulises Carrión's "Hamlet, For Two Voices", pulled from Friedrich Schiller's Maid Of Orleans (1801). Matthew Sullivan dusted off his pain tongs and sent over some sou…
Trajectories
Trajectories is the second full-length album by Michael Vincent Waller, featuring pianist R. Andrew Lee and cellist Seth Parker Woods. The album will be released on September 8th, 2017, on Sean McCann’s Los Angeles based label, Recital. The CD/LP editions include photography by Phill Niblock, liner notes by "Blue" Gene Tyranny, and mastering by Denis Blackham. "In these evocative works, Michael Vincent Waller details his responses to mostly situations of introspection, in which the compose…
Durb
Sean McCann on Ian William Craig's Durbē: "Ian shared this live performance with me in January of 2017, while I was living in London for work. I fell asleep countless times whilst listening to this, day and night. After some arm twisting Ian agreed to let me publish it. He had not planned on releasing it officially. Durbē embodies the most elegant and meditative aspects of Ian's music. Live, Ian's music is able to stretch and fold and soak. These long-form takes show how purely structure a…
Poems and Metapoems
Recital present a reissue of Dick Higgins's Poems And Metapoems, originally released on cassette by New Wilderness Audiographics in 1982. Label head Sean McCann on the reissue: "Since the beginning of Recital, I have been trying to publish the work of Dick Higgins. He is a chief figure in my artistic world, a hero of mine. And now, with the assistance of Charlie Morrow, it has finally happened. The first vinyl album ever published of Higgins! Many know Dick Higgins as the father of intermedi…
