AWSOME!! The Time Machine project was conceived in order to find a simple and immediate way to work with rhythm. I built two cheap and imprecise, almost-square wave oscillators with a wide range of frequencies. These oscillators can sweep and cross-modulate from rare pulse to high audio signals. I use a mixer to create feedback between the filters, CV and audio signals and simply record the output; there are no overdubs.' Renato Rinaldi studied drama, composition and electronic music. Afte…
This album, Yôko Higashi's fifth as hamaYôko, features a triptych of pipe organ improvisations recorded at St Augustin's Church in Croix Rousse, Lyon. Higashi likens these tracks to a 'an old painting of a foggy landscape'. They are augmented by two silent passages and a fourth track, Panthere d'Erebos. Edition of 300 copies.

Off/On is an evolutionary act of fissure, the opening of a rift in Forma's sonic landscape. The second LP from the Brooklyn cosmic synth trio of Mark Dwinell, Sophie Lam, and George Bennett, Off/On's universe is darker, its terrain more enigmatic and aggressive than 2011's critically-acclaimed self-titled album. Recorded at the renowned Schoolhouse space in Bushwick, Off/On combines swirling arpeggios, gnarled sequences, and deconstructed motorik rhythms to conjure an atmosphere of entropic …
S K L S are Joachim Nordwall & Henrik Rylander, the key members of Swedish noise-rock band The Skull Defekts. That’s their debut release under the name S K L S, which seems to be a kind of side-project for darker, electronic minimalistic sounds. As opposed to the full guitars & drums line-up of The Skull Defekts follows the traditions of motoric Kraut-style (Can or Neu! — like), S K L S is defenitely oriented mostly on spacey-psychedelic-electronic-meditation of Cluster or Popol Vuh. It’s…

Versatility has always been what sets Luca Sigurtà apart. His new solo album ‘Bliss’ out on Fratto9. Recor- ded in 2011 and Mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi, this new offering exhibits his most dreamy side. There are five tracks which sit between cinematic drone music and that of Angelo Badalmenti.
It a soundscape through a sunny afternoon in the North of Europe, filled with white light that illuminates the port and with the presence of distant noise.
Shared between the passion for silence and …
Long awaited new album by the enigmatic composer Angelo Petronella, in a superb piece of electroacoustic microsound, intertwining scrupulous minimalism, environmental recordings, and an intense drone nebula. The liner notes to Rimandi E Scoperte are esoteric to say the least, with statements like "In my place there is an arch, both an entrance and a barrier, both a passage and a wall" which clarify little in terms of how this music was made or what processes are involved. That's probably the wa…
The first release of Fabio Orsi on Boring Machines is the result of his recent moving to Berlin, after living long time in Italy. The cold winter left an heavy mark on Orsi who has been stricken and enthused by the psichedelic feeling of the long Berlin winter. Relocation.Reconstruction is derived from the sound elements of the three installations in Yann Novak’s solo exhibition Relocation at Lawrimore Project (May 2009). With this latest work, Novak continues his exploration into this theme a year after the initial event that inspired him, with the new insight that although he has arrived at his destination, the reloc…
Day Is Done, a major new video work by Los Angeles artist Mike Kelley, is a feature-length musical. It enunciates a career-long interest in American subcultures and folk events through the re-staging of 31 carnivalesque productions intermixed into a meandering semi-narrative. Each reconstruction is a live-action scene that has been extrapolated from photographs found in high school yearbooks. Their subjects are the kinds of institutionalized entertainments practiced within the American e…
Starting in the early sixties, Fluxus followed in the footsteps of the Futurist and Dada avant-gardes, going against the established grain of Fine Art and Official Art. Fluxus‚ an interdisciplinary aesthetic brings together influences as diverse as Zen, Science and daily life, and puts them to poetic use. Initially received as little more than an international network of pranksters, the playful artists of Fluxus were, and remain, a network of radical visionaries who sought to reconcile art with …
