Pietro Grossi was the pioneer of Italian computer music: first cellist of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino for thirty years, founder of the Studio di Fonologia Musicale di Firenze in 1963, first Italian to hold a chair in electronic music, the man who organised Italy's first John Cage events. That such a figure made a library record is one of the trade's stranger facts.
