Le Plastique Mystification Group

2000 release ** "In The Land Of Melancholy as the band's first official release is to present it - in the musicians' intention - from the most accessible side. Hence, the album mainly features atmospheric ballads. However, it is easy to read in them the band's wealth of experience, passion and inspiration. The psychedelic tradition of the 60s is complemented by the spatiality of electronic sounds, which refers to the cosmic German psychedelia of the early 70s (e.g. Cosmic Jokers), or its contemporary successors from the Legendary Pink Dots. Ambient passages, darkness and nostalgia of this music make one think of the ballad dimension of Swans' achievements, and when more folk, acoustic motifs appear in it, it smells of the tradition of apocalyptic folk under the sign of Current 93 and Death In June. The common ground of the album is marked not only by the nostalgic tone of ethereal ballads, but also - so rare in music today - the spiritual charge of each song, referring to the best times of the new wave of the 80s. The album should be a big surprise for all fans of the broadly understood "dark wave", new wave and psychedelia."
