Lesion Etrange is a guitar-drum duo from Lyon (France). Alex (Tombouctou, Schleu, Torticoli...) is a master of the guitar, capable of taking you into a torrent of sounds with a venomous distortion and an aura of the East Coast of the USA. He's a sucker for the sound of Arab On Radar and Hammer Party, and an admirer of Shield Your Eyes' or Us Maple's incredible telepathic sense in concert... His sidekick on drums is Jo (Schleu, Neige Morte...), who is also a sound avalanche catalyst. As straight as a baseball bat, as smart as an Alpine fox, Jo knows how to set up and deliver concentrated rhythms in total fusion with his sidekick.
Lesion Etrange has a sense of oppression and the rigor of gesture. On their debut album, the duo deliver two tracks on a grand voyage. A disquieting journey where the blows and damp ambiences of deserted industrial wastelands will take you on a journey as noisy as it is melodic. Whereas ‘alpha’ has the sense of a kiss on the forehead and a suave caress on the neck, ‘omega’ seeks to break something, it's epidermal, it's an allergic reaction, an abrupt gesture to mark the break.
For almost 45 minutes, we wander around this large, dark, rusty-smelling room in a highly cinematic atmosphere of suspense. Lesion Etrange could have been an architect like a Schuiten if he'd lived in Brussels, but it's Lyon that unfolds here. 'alpha' begins with a heavy organ and ‘omega’ ends beautifully with the characteristic arpeggios of our insatiable Alex. Lesion Etrange are the kind of people who imagine a beginning and find an end to it all. And yes, they are mortal.
