The Sound Projector

“Unreserved recommendation for this superb release.”

The music of Catherine Christer Hennix is entirely new to me, but there’s a programme of effort underway just now to shed more light on the achievements of this Swedish composer who was active in the 1960s and 1970s, and was associated with prominent big-shot American minimalist composers such as La Monte Young and Henry Flynt; she was even drawn into the Sufi raga drone thing, and studied for a time under Pandit Pran Nath. Besides being a composer, she also wrote poetry, texts, and was a visual artist who also studied mathematics, computer science, and philosophy; in fact the label who co-issued today’s double LP, Blank Forms, are intending to publish a collection of her writings in two volumes called Poesy Matters and Other Matters.
