*2026 stock* Bolt of Void was sleeping in the dark, earthen soil for almost 7 years, and like the locust, the group emerged again, anew -- Gate is a wormhole, unlocked ceremonially -- A star-gate traversal that reaches terminal velocity and the feeling of moving forwards, backwards, and not at all become the same. Centered around extreme noise, drone clusters, and atonal portal jumping, the trio's dense sound is powered via three expanded lap steel guitars, bells, and resonant metal. Bolt Of Voi…
Errands is the first duo recording from Marja Ahti, Swedish-Finnish sound artist and electroacoustic composer, and John McCowen, a native of Southern Illinois, now residing in Iceland, whose work centres on a radical exploration of clarinet multiphonics. Working without the aid of electronics, McCowen has spent years finessing performance techniques that allow him to layer beating patterns and split tones that belie their source in a monophonic instrument. Ahti, in contrast, has built up a stunn…
Ithā Sajā is an ode to dusk, dawn and what’s in between. Or, Ithā Sajā is a collection of piano recordings I made in my Berlin studio
wal-Leil [by the night] is inspired by conversations with my friends Hend Alkahwaji and Wejdan Nassif during theatre rehearsals. wal-Leili [by the night II] is an imagined conversation with my friend Raman Khalaf. An homage to the jurjina rhythm found in folk music of northern Iraq and Mesopotamia. In wan-Najmi [by the star], one phrase repeats over and over with …
Brainhack Musicbox presents a Kyiv-based project operating somewhere between post–free jazz and free improvisation, approached through an abstract electronic lens. Performed by a quintet of experienced improvisers, the material navigates dense yet transparent arrangements, deliberately avoiding the conventional “wall of sound” in favour of clarity, contrast and internal detail.
Across an extended duration, the music unfolds through a shifting interplay of textures, gestures and melodic fragments…
*2026 stock* A new collaboration between Ross Scott-Buccleuch (Diurnal Burdens) and Andy Jarvis, Precedes has its origins in the series of blank tape compilations released by Ross on his tape label Steep Gloss. After being invited to contribute to volume 3 of the Blank Tape Compilations in mid-2021, Andy became engrossed in the process of working with blank tapes. When you strip everything away, what's left? Having somewhat unfinished business in the blank tape realm himself (now that the compil…
*200 copies limited edition* Recorded live at The Jazz Cafe in Camden, London, on the year's so called "Blue Monday," Live from Camden captures The London Ambient Orchestra in a single evening of collective improvisation. Conceived during the depths of winter, the performance reflects the ensemble's commitment to creating music that encourages presence, reflection, and restoration. While Blue Monday began as a marketing invention, it has since become associated with conversations surrounding men…
Musique Domestique marks the debut full-length from French duo Adiciatz, a project that emerges from the shared musical curiosity of Manon Nogier and Guillaume Lespinasse. Living near Lyon and making music together since before the pandemic, the pair developed their sound during lockdown improvisations at home — a creative process that quickly revealed a unique musical chemistry rooted as much in folk tradition as in experimental exploration. Drawing on a wide palette of influences — from Occita…
Last year I invited my friend Frederik, who sings in Bending Backwards, plays piano in some different jazz projects and reads 100 books a year to come by my apartment and record a tape for Afvikling. This is what came out of it. A half hour of truly virtuous yet very weird piano and organ Music, with sounds of construction work echoing through the open windows. For me a prime example of why you sometimes just shall let the tape run and let the magic happen by itself.
For a long time, we had been working on a very different album, guided by a simple set of methods: feedback, the layering of short sound fragments, and a process of repeated listening through which memory and response gradually accumulated. At a certain point, we felt the need to step away from that framework, if only temporarily. We decided instead to engage in a free musical exchange and explore a conversation through improvisation. It's from that encounter this body of music emerged. When we …
The Swamp’ is a get-to-know-you party where furniture is broken, wine glasses are smashed and walls are defaced with graffiti, but the living room remains more beautiful than the night before. The album is the first meeting between vocalist Maja S. K. Ratkje, guitarist Torstein Slåen and electronics artist Sigurd Ytre-Arne. With a fair dose of anti-bullshit inherited from decades of jazz/improv/contemporary music mixed together in the Norwegian stew pot, they improvise new songs across time, aes…
Bright Madness is the third album from the pinch-me-is-this-real improvising trio of Wendy Eisenberg, David Grubbs, and Bonner Kramer. Fresh off their 2025 Big Ears appearance, Squanderers slid on over to Kramer’s adopted hometown of Asheville, North Carolina and laid down the glorious afternoon’s worth of instant compositions that stands before you. It’s the sound of Eisenberg, Grubbs, and Kramer doing their damnedest to dazzle one another, from shell-game sleights of hand to the effortless bea…
Few artists have expanded the possibilities of the voice as radically and masterfully as Berlin based voice artist, composer and improvisor Ute Wassermann. For her, the voice is an ecosystem: a living field of relationships between body, object, space, and the listener’s ear. Her music moves between the transcendental and the quotidian at once – breath as ritual, sound as touch, acoustic experience as something simultaneously otherworldly and utterly present. Dissolving the perceived boundaries …
*200 copies limited edition* Rope is a collaborative improvisation between musician and producer Al Wootton and musician and percussionist Irene Bianco. Wootton’s hardware processing of various sampling methods, plus guitar, bass guitar and clarinet, provides a counterpoint for Bianco’s experimental treatments of drum kit, bells, vibraphone and other percussion instruments. The result is foggy, dubbed out, glacial, free form compositions that defy categorization.
Jessica Roch is a London based, award winning composer, multi instrumentalist, sound designer, and improviser. Her solo work moves fluidly across genres, weaving ambient and electronic textures with elements of minimalism, jazz, folk, and experimental music. A classically trained violinist and pianist, Jessica creates music for film, games, and contemporary media, while also collaborating as a session musician with artists including Super Furry Animals. In 2025, she received a Composer Spotlight…
*75 copies limited edition* "Outwardly active in France's experimental music scene since a few years, Arnica Montana elegantly opens her discography with her first physical release, Placebo Music. Recorded in Nice, on the Côte d'Azur, this tape reflects - in the artist own's words - the boredom and suspended time of the region, the strange dystopian atmosphere of those cities, the mountains, the rhythm of the waves, and of the peculiar slowness that seems to permeate the landscape. With her lit…
The music on this album can be described as drone / ambient / improv. The legendary guitarist Nils Wohlrabe is the initiator of this unique meeting of three musicians from different genres. Nils has a background in punk, noise and industrial music. Karin Johansson is a pianist and composer in improvised music, free jazz and contemporary music. She works with alternative techniques and prepared piano. Hasse Westling is a jazz bassist with a wide range of genres; he plays free improv, 50s/60s jazz…
Following the release of Ganzfeld, the Tenerife-based octet returns with Retiro Espiritual, their fourth full-length album and the second chapter in an ongoing improvisational document recorded inside one of Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s abandoned oil tanks.
Gaf & The Love Supreme Arkestra work outside conventional studio frameworks. Their music emerges from extended improvisation sessions that unfold sporadically, sometimes over several days. Built around drums, guitar, bass, modular synthesis and s…
*2026 stock* Kontuur is a duo exploring improvisation in the space between acoustic and electronic music. It consists of Juri Jansen (drums) and Adriaan Severins (electronics), but is often expanded with fellow artists/musicians. Starting point of every Kontuur project is finding new ways to sample and re-sample existing audio/sounds in an (as-live-as-possible) electronic environment, mostly beginning from the acoustics of a drum kit. During a two year period (2019 - 2021) Kontuur recorded sever…
Flutist and composer Taiga Ultan announces the release of Shade Zero, her debut full-length album out June 26 on Kou Records and recorded, mixed, and produced by Randall Dunn (Anna von Hausswolff, Annea Lockwood, Danny Elfman). Structured as a three-part work, the album traces a gradual transformation from virtuosic flute performance rooted in classical discipline to extended techniques, spoken language, and poetic reflection. At the center of Shade Zero is an investigation into the relationship…
