Alain Bancquart
Alain Bancquart (1934-2022) was born in Dieppe and studied violin, viola, counterpoint, fugue and composition at the Paris Conservatoire, with Darius Milhaud for composition. He played viola in the Orchestre National de France until 1973. From 1967 he devoted his work to microtonal music, using quarter-tones and later sixteenth-tones within a neo-serial approach. His output includes five symphonies, concertos and chamber operas.

Three excellent compositions spanning from 1968 to 1978 respectively for string trio and for for 2 electric guitars, 2 ondes Martenot, 2 electric organs and synthesisers, released on Sapphos's "Musique Française d'Aujourd'hui" series in 1978.

A symphony and a duo for flute and cello composed in 1980 and released on Erato's "Musique Française d'Aujourd'hui" series in 1984.
