Amon Düül II

Amon Düül was a West German political art commune formed out of the student movement of the 1960s that became well known for its free-form musical improvisations. This spawned two rock groups, Amon Düül (sometimes referred to as Amon Düül I) and the more famous Amon Düül II. After both groups disbanded in the 1970s,

Wolf City
Amon Düül II's 1972 album, a tighter set of songs after the sprawling early records, with Renate Knaup's vocals, Indian sitar and tabla guests and the instrumental Deutsch Nepal, plus three bonus tracks.

Yeti

Tanz Der Lemminge
Double CD. Packaged in a mini LP sleeve with obi. There aren't many double art-rock albums from the early '70s that have stood the test of time, but then again, there aren't many albums like Tanz, and there certainly aren't many groups like Amon Düül II. While exact agreement over which of their classic albums is the absolute standout may never be reached, in terms of ambition combined with good musicianship and good humor, the group's third album, is probably the best candidate still. The music…
Phallus Dei
Comes in mini LP replica with obi & Japanese insert. Originally released in 1969 by Liberty. Remastered and remixed at Neon Duell Studio, Munich. Amon (from the Egyptian sun god) Düül (a German-Turkish derivative of Moon) were a 60s student hippy commune based in Munich, in what was then West Germany. Among their various expressions of free living they occasionally performed rudimentary music where anything went, and being at all proficient was more of a hindrance than a way in to one of their p…
Carnival In Babylon
Originally released in 1972, 'Carnival in Babylon' has always lived in the shade of the sprawling Yeti and Dance of the Lemmings collections, but in many ways it is a more consistent and coherent document of the Amon Duul at their peak.
Lemmingmania
Originally released in 1974, 'Lemmingmania' is a compilation made up of, mostly rare AD II singles. Vocalist Renate Knaup's vocals are  astounding, especially when guitarist Chris Karrer jumps in and shares the vocal duties with her. Brings to mind [sort of] like Germany's reply to Jefferson Airplane

La pellicola originale è del 1968 e presenta la primissima, leggendaria formazione del gruppo, impegnata in musiche che avrebbero poi visto la luce sul loro album di debutto, pubblicato l'anno seguente. La pellicol…
