Camizole

Country: France

Camizole was a collective of Paris musicians that grew out of an improvisation and happening group started by Jacky Dupéty. Many musicians passed through it, with Dominique Grimaud at its centre. The group began in avant-garde jazz, moved toward electronic music and ended as a hybrid of many styles, with performances that ranged from free improvisation to loosely structured pieces, some of them using pre-recorded tape. Camizole members included Jacky and Jean-Luc Dupéty, Françoise Crublé, Catherine Lienhardt and Chris Chanet. Grimaud later led a synthesizer duo version of the group.
