Dick Higgins
Dick Higgins (1938-1998) was an American composer, poet, publisher and artist born in Cambridge, England, and one of the founders of Fluxus. A student of John Cage from 1958, he took part in the early Happenings and in the 1962 Wiesbaden festival that launched Fluxus, and coined the term "intermedia" for work that falls between art forms. He is best known in sound for his Danger Music scores. Dick Higgins founded Something Else Press in 1963, publishing Gertrude Stein, John Cage, Marshall McLuhan and many Fluxus artists, and ran the Something Else Gallery from 1966 to 1969.
