Emil Karlsen

Emil Karlsen is a Norwegian-born drummer and percussionist based in the UK, working in free improvisation and free jazz. His playing explores the range of timbres the drum kit can produce. He is one of the musicians behind the revival of Bead Records, the improvised music label, alongside its founding members Philipp Wachsmann and Matthew Hutchinson. Emil Karlsen's earlier records include the solo Flux and Grain with Phil Durrant, both on Noumenon.
