Iasos

Iasos (Joseph Bernardot, 1947-2024) was a Greek-born American composer and one of the first musicians to make what became known as new age music. He grew up in New York State and settled in California, where he developed an otherworldly, multi-layered studio sound. Iasos moved to the United States at age four and graduated from Cornell University in 1968 with a degree in cultural anthropology. He moved to Marin County, California, and released his debut Inter-Dimensional Music Through Iasos in 1975, the same year he played flute on Steven Halpern's Spectrum Suite.
