Mars Williams

Mars Williams (1955-2023) was an American saxophonist and clarinettist from the Chicago area. He moved between new wave, rock and free jazz: he played saxophone on the Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping" and spent many years in the Psychedelic Furs, while also working at the centre of Chicago's improvised music scene. He died in Chicago in November 2023. Williams was a member of the Waitresses from 1980 to 1983 and of the Psychedelic Furs from 1983 to 1989 and again from 2005 until his death.
