Penguin Cafe Orchestra

Penguin Cafe Orchestra was a British ensemble led by the guitarist and composer Simon Jeffes (1949-1997), who conceived the idea in 1972 and founded the group with the cellist Helen Liebmann. The group played instrumental pieces built on repeating figures, using strings, guitars, harmonium and found sounds such as a telephone ring tone. Its pieces include "Music for a Found Harmonium" and "Perpetuum Mobile".
