Psywarfare is the noise and power electronics project of Dwid Hellion, founder and vocalist of Integrity, the hardcore band formed in Cleveland in 1988. The name is short for psychological warfare. Hellion built the project from tape loops, field recordings, modified effects and toys, and he describes it as sound meant to confront and provoke the listener. Hellion has named Throbbing Gristle and Whitehouse among his influences. Psywarfare opened for Merzbow and Masonna, and in 1996 Victory Records issued a split 7-inch with Integrity.
2025 stock "Draining Bernice Worden / Violence" by Psywarfare is a harsh noise project that exemplifies the band's commitment to weaponized sound and psychological provocation, creating an intentionally uncomfortable and uncompromising experience for the listener. The single was released in 2021 and consists of abrasive, confrontational sonic textures that reflect Psywarfare's ethos of challenging what is considered musically acceptable by mainstream standards.
