Roy Montgomery

Roy Montgomery is a guitarist and composer from Christchurch, New Zealand, born in London. He came up in the early 1980s post-punk scene with The Pin Group, the first act released by Flying Nun, and later built a body of slow, layered and drone-based guitar music that he recorded alone, often on a four-track machine. The Pin Group issued the single Ambivalence in 1981. After years away from music, Montgomery returned in 1990 with Dadamah, alongside Peter Stapleton and Kim Pieters, and then formed the duo Dissolve with Chris Heaphy.
