The Black Dog

Country: United Kingdom

The Black Dog is an electronic music group from Sheffield, formed in 1989 by Ken Downie with Ed Handley and Andy Turner. In the early 1990s the group helped shape the reflective home-listening side of techno on Warp, and it later moved toward ambient music and field recordings. The Black Dog released Bytes (1993) and Spanners (1995) on Warp. Handley and Turner left in 1995 to concentrate on Plaid. From 2001 Downie worked with brothers Martin and Richard Dust, whose label Dust Science issued Silenced (2005).
