The London Symphony Orchestra
The London Symphony Orchestra is a self-governing orchestra founded in London in 1904 by players who had left Henry Wood's Queen's Hall Orchestra. Hans Richter conducted its first concert, and its players have long chosen their own conductors. Resident at the Barbican Centre since 1982, it has recorded many film scores, among them John Williams's music for Star Wars (1977).
