*2022 stock.* 'Deuter has so much material available that it's best to start with one of several compilations of his work. Although Call of the Unknown is also a fine introduction to his music, the double-disc Sands of Time is really the best choice for several reasons; first because it features some of his most recent compositions (including a selection taken from his video soundtrack to The Petrified Forest) that you won't find on any other recording. The first disc also offers a balanced pres…
*2022 stock.* By the mid 1970's Deuter was fully formed as a composer, having jettisoned the rougher edges and rather derivative prog and Krautrock elements of his first few albums. The albums listed above date mostly from his heyday spanning 1976 to the late 1980's and appear on Celestial Harmonies sub-label Kuckuck. During this period he spent much of his time in Poona, India as a student of controversial guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. The inspiration flowed and some truly great music was born.

*2022 stock.* 'Beginning with moody bass and guitar plucking that wouldn't be a fraction out of place on albums by fellow German musicians like Ash Ra Tempel, D finds Deuter as both an accomplished composer and self-producer. It's not about simply technical virtuosity, of course, as the music throughout D demonstrates. At once epic in scope and with a sly, careful sense of entrancement, this is psychedelic music in the immediately post-psych world. The multi-part "Babylon," which takes up most o…
"...I'm looking forward to playing live together with you Linda, Christian and Michael wherever on the globe, as soon as the Covid restrictions are abrogated. This would be a great pleasure for me. Stay healthy, yours" - Joachim
"It has been a privilege to have the opportunity of recording with you Joachim. Thank you for opening the doors to the sonic cinema and ushering in our minds. Lights, Camera, Action - or as you once told us - Do it!" - Dallas Acid

*Edition with 44 pages booklet. In process of stocking* This album is a bit difficult to pigeonhole, as most of the early Embryo work is. The opening number sounds if anything, like an outtake from Miles Davis' Jack Johnson soundtrack, but with lead guitar sound more prominant. Then, gears are switched, and you are listening to acoustic folk guitar and sitar, which melts into a cool ostenato riff flanging around, that just builds and builds, with countermelody on Violin (or Veena?) and guitar we…
*In process of stocking* Joke Lanz and Sudden Infant once again return in their razor-sharp trio setting whereby the absurdist nature that Joke’s work is already cut with is reconfigured in a gnarled and beefy punk-fucked contorted rock setting. Short bursts of angular flex are heavily propelled by depth-charge rhythms, wry lyrical musings on modern living, and sensibilities hatched from years of experience in the worlds of sound art, abstract music, industrialised junk-noise and related areas h…

** 2022 Limited Repress, white vinyl ** Neu! were formed by Kraftwerk members Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger who took the sparse early Kraftwerk electronic sound and utilized many effects like lock-groove rhythms and minimalist melodies currently used by today's electronic artists. Neu! created a new kind of rhythm that bridged the gap between rock n roll's syncopation and dance music's four-to-the-floor beats. Stereolab's Tim Gane says "Neu!'s longer tracks are far closer to the future of hous…
* 2022 Repress * Glass is a recording of an inspired live improvisation by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto at the architect Philip Johnson's hallowed Glass House, in the bucolic setting of New Canaan, Connecticut. The structure's transparency and seamless continuity with nature was given another dimension by the addition of this performance, whereby the building, location and audio coalesced into one perfect, harmonious whole. Stylish, stunning and elegantly minimal, the duo\'s architectural soun…

Pioneers in their own musical approaches, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, began their exploration of sound in the evocatively titled V.I.R.U.S series in 2002. After more than a decade from the release of the collection's final installment with "Summvs" in 2011, NOTON reissues all the five albums between June and October 2022.With its impressionistic atmosphere, in this collaborative project two generations met and shared the idea of electronic music as an inspiration source for new musical struc…
Tip! In the first years of its existence, starting in 1997, the Peter Brötzmann Chicago Tentet worked as a collective, inviting all and any of its participants to contribute compositions to the band's repertoire. Eventually, the Tentet would jettison scores and pre-planned structures altogether, opting for free improvisation, but on their early tours and initial recordings they played pieces written by the various band members. A marathon set of summer studio sessions in 2002, just off a U.S. …
*2022 stock* If a genius is someone whose ideas survive all attempts at explanation', writes the well-known contemporary musicologist Robin Maconie, 'then by that definition Stockhausen is the nearest thing to Beethoven this century has produced. Reason? His music lasts. With penetrating philosophical and spiritual insights Stockhausen describes, in this collection of lectures and interviews conducted in English, a whole new universe of sounds and events. Stockhausen's uncompromising attitude to…
Acnalbasac Noom -- meant to be the German-English-American avant-pop group Slapp Happy's second album -- was originally recorded in 1973 but did not see release originally until 1980. Recorded with legendary German art-rock group Faust accompanying the Slapp Happy core of Anthony Moore on keyboards, Peter Blegvad on guitar, and Dagmar Krause on vocals, and with Faust's brilliant producer Uwe Nettelbeck at the helm, Acnalbasac Noom was initially rejected by the group's label Polydor as not being …
* 2022 stock * "Drake and Tsahar were in Paris as guests at a friend’s wedding. Turning the celebration into a busman’s holiday, the two subsequently went into a studio with veteran German bassist Peter Kowald and American trumpeter Hugh Ragin, who were specifically invited to take part, and produced Open Systems. It’s more than 72½ minutes spread among seven compositions that relate as much to hard core energy music of the late 1960s as the former disc does to spirituality...... Take the saxman…

Over the course of the last decade, Baker has released numerous recorded works, both solo and with his duo Nadja, plus various othe…
Frame is a project started on 1992 from Eugenio Vatta and Andrea Benedetti with the idea to re-create the atmosphere of a movie theater in a musical show. As happened during the days of silent films with orchestras playing in real time during the movies, the Frame project had the aim to follow with electronic instruments, the evolution of a movie, specifically assembled for the show. This happened in real time following few guidelines and with a lot of improvisation in order to donate to the ele…

*2022 stock* In autumn 2013, Hamburg's formaldehyd electronaut Felix Kubin and the ominous ninepiece Warsaw orchestra Mitch & Mitch joined forces to produce an avant-pop-backwards-jazz-library-record. Inspired by the work of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Polish and Czech film soundtracks, easy listening, musique concrète and various other bizarre style icons, they invited German producer legend Tobias Levin to be their electric conduit. With their faces turned to the dark side of the moon and th…
