Limited edition red vinyl 7", 100 copies. Two pieces for hand-held gas horns realized at the Music Research Centre, University of York, November 2008. Recorded using two Neumann U87 microphones and a Shure SM58 on custom-rigged pendulum.
Rasputin 3000
This one-time limited edition of 750 copies comes from Austria's Comfortzone label and catches Mika Vainio in swaggering backroom dancefloor mode again for a 2nd, Jukebox-styled 7". A-side is a corrosive, killer slice of Industro-Bashment called 'Rasputin 3000', all skeletal rhythmic swagger and elemental distortion. B-side features an even more stripped down and haunted number called 'Devil Arrives To Finspång'. Nobody does this thing quite like Vainio - miss out at your peril!
Mysterier
7" vinyl was the quintessential format for popular music. Today, it is an undervalued and mostly promotional medium, used as a fetishistic signpost for a time of musical authenticity and a "healthy" popular culture. Two tracks from Biosphere originally recorded for Hågogaland Teater, Tromsø, Norway in 2006 and remastered in 2011. Part of the Touch Sevens series, cut by Jason at Transition. Alessandro Bosetti‘s music for the last decade has documented the de- and re-contextualization of the human voice through a variety of means. Il Fiore Della Bocca achieved this through the natural alterations of ‘normal’ speech exhibited by the voices of individuals with speech impediments, such as stuttering and phonetic disorders. The Terrifying Realisation We Might Be Wrong
Second 7" release for Dirty Knobby takes us on another diversion through a hellish landscape peppered with brittle discordance and fuzzed out string burn, courtesy of an old cheaply produced Indian 'banjo', or bulbul tarang, which had the wooden keyboard removed, a contact mic attached and then thwacked repeatedly with a screwdriver head. september 2009 release ; excellent (if painfully brief ; could really use an lp-length recording of this stuff !!!) single of ghostly guitar passages (recorded in harlem, usa, no less) from italian artist stefano pilia ...two mazzacane-connors-esque figures, drenched in amp-buzz (incidentally, the only way we could solve the ages-old 33/45 dilemma was to run the 60-cycle ground-hum through a frequency counter) ; impeccably channeled & gorgeously presented ... highly recommended !!!
