* 200 copies limited edition. Comes with a Risograph pamphlet insert. * Permanent Draft founders Valentina Magaletti and Fanny Chiarello return with Gym Douce, a playful and surreal suite of percussion and spoken word that reimagines the gym as a space for sonic exploration. Across seven inventive tracks, the duo transforms everyday movement into a series of charming, oddball vignettes: “Reverse Fly” is an earworm of processed voice and unruly drum machine claps, while “Curtsy Lounges” veers from naïve piano to manic, looping refrains that linger long after the last note.
Gym Douce is alternative gym music for the experimental set-a collection that finds poetry and groove in the mundane, and celebrates the fragmentary, irrepressible bursts of creativity at the heart of the Permanent Draft label. Magaletti’s percussive inventiveness and Chiarello’s playful vocal interventions create a lo-fi, detail-rich world where every sound is both familiar and delightfully strange.
"She says, I loved her so much, what a pain I suffered
but why should love be pain?
she says, it must be effective, my calves hurt
but why should movement be pain?
she screams, oh yes, yes, yes, hurt me
but why should pleasure be pain?
she says, it has no taste, give me the pepper
but why should flavour be pain?
I say, oh, easy, you're giving me a headache
and I lay down my gym mat and roll up my Swiss Ball"
