Marionette is proud to present Mélodies pour Clairons, the debut album by Ioa Beduneau, a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the worlds of electronic music, installation art, and social dialogue. Based in the South of France, Ioa's artistic practice is defined by hands-on creation—constructing intricate self-playing installations and handmade DIY electronics that challenge conventional modes of interaction. Proudly identifying as a disabled artist, Ioa brings a unique and vital perspective to electronic and electroacoustic music, exploring how our bodies engage with sound, space, and the world around us.
Mélodies pour Clairons is a deeply personal work born from stillness and intimacy. Created during the pandemic, the album served as a sonic diary shared with a loved one—Clairon—whose name also references the medieval trumpet that inspired the album's conceptual framework. Through modular synthesis and principles drawn from physical modeling and bioacoustics, Ioa reimagines the movement of air, pressure, and resonance, translating abstract ideas into a richly textured sonic ecosystem. The album unfolds like an imaginary biodome: organic ASMR tones blend with synthesized bird calls, while pirouetting melodies of pipes and bells evoke both chaos and harmony. These impressionistic compositions carry a poetic sensibility, transforming the physical properties of the clairon into moving, boundary-pushing soundscapes.
"Special thanks to my parents, my brother Saty, and Clairon for their unconditional support. And to Jean Love for the music research we used to share." — Ioa Beduneau
Striking, singular, and deeply intentional, Mélodies pour Clairons embodies the kind of visionary music that defines Marionette's curatorial ethos.
